If you are like most women, your days are full. You may not feel like you have time to go into a store to purchase clothing, much less get measured for and try on a bunch of bras. Although it is always a good idea to get measured regularly, you can also measure yourself and find your perfect bra online. These are some tips to help.
Online Bra Quiz
Your first step should include taking an online bra quiz. These quizzes help you evaluate your current bras and determine where you need a better fit. You will answer what types of bra problems you have, the types of bras you like most, your current bra size, how your bras fit and your breast shape. After you answer all these questions, the quiz should give you an idea of the bras that you will find most comfortable, will fit the best and be the most comfortable.
Learn Your Measurements
Next, you will need to measure yourself to determine your correct bra size. You will need a flexible tape measure, such as those used in sewing, in addition to a pencil and a piece of paper. Stand and measure under your breasts. Get a loose, snug and tight measurement.
While standing, measure around the fullest part of your breasts, across your nipples. Then, bend at 90% and measure around the fullest part of your breasts again. Finally, lie down and do the same.
You can find calculators where you insert these numbers to get your true bra size and sister sizes.
Trial & Error To Find the Best Fit
Before you remove any tags, try on and test out the bras you receive through the mail. Pay attention to band support and cup fullness. Look for bulging or gaping cups. Also, make sure your breasts aren’t sliding out the bottom of your bra.
Move around to test the underwire comfort if you purchased an underwire bra. Does it poke into you on the side or front? Test the straps to make sure they don’t slide around.
Use a mirror to determine how the bra makes your breasts look. Its center should lay flat against your breastbone. In addition, your bra should position your nipples in the middle of your elbow and shoulder. Turn sideways and look straight on at your bra and breasts.
Avoid Any Returns
Bras for women come in many different styles and brands. Unfortunately, your bra size may change from one style or brand to the next. The best strategy to avoid returns is to try on different bras in person. If you cannot try them on in person, research how different bra sizes run, especially if you plan to purchase bras sized based on other countries’ measurements.
Then, determine the bra styles, coverage and support you want. You should also know your sister sizes because you can make slight adjustments based on the bra and still get the support and coverage you need. You can also test removable pads or cutlets for in-between sizes.
While you research the best bras for different breast types and find the bras that work best for you, remember that your size and shape can change over time and you may need to adjust the style and size of your bras over time.
